The fourth round of the "amsci regionale championship" took place at the Castiglione della Pescaia track (south of Tuscany) on the weekend of June 18/19 under a sunny sky with 32°C temperature. Approximately 60 drivers participated in two classes: Junior & Senior. In the Senior class, drivers such as Tortorici, Lenzi, Boero, and Fabianelli participated.
The dusty track was very wide, with a long straight and some jumps (one triple and one double jump), but was not very bumpy.
The schedule included 3 rounds qualifying, a semi-final, and main final.
I used the qualification sessions to set up my XB8. This was the first time I tested
the new engine mount, and it works very well and allows easy access to the
engine. After the qualifying I was 7th; the car was good but the shocks seem to be too hard. For the semi-final I changed the shock oil (600 to 400 XRAY Silicon Oil) and shock springs (from Mugen grey to XRAY light-blue springs). After these small changes the car was faster and easier to drive...perfect for me!
At 1500hrs was the start of the main final. Tortorici took the lead, I made some mistakes in the first 2 laps then I calmed myself down and drove more safely. For 20 minutes I was in 2nd place, only 15 seconds behind Tortorici. I tried to force the rhythm but my tires couldn't give me more (having been used in both the semi-final and final). I finished in 2nd position behind the European Champion in charge...good for me! At the end I was very happy about the XB8; I've found a driving sensation and reliability like no other brands. I think I will entertain a lot with this car.
Final Podium
1. Davide Tortorici 2. Andrea Monaci XRAY XB8
3. Luca Bucarelli
